About Lucky Charlie
A bar/restaurant serving pizzas and shared plates cooked in the oldest coal fire oven in America. Walk-in only!
Located at 254 Irving Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237, Lucky Charlie operates as a pizza restaurant serving Brooklyn in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In Brooklyn, the busiest hours are Friday and Saturday evenings and any night with a big game, when quoted delivery times can stretch past an hour; ordering before 5 p.m. or picking up yourself avoids the wait. Delivery radiuses are small, often two to five miles, and a minimum order plus a delivery fee is normal, with a tip of a few dollars for the driver on top. Lunch specials such as two slices and a drink, or a personal pie, are the cheapest way to eat at most shops across New York on weekdays. Toppings are priced per item and half-and-half pies are usually free to request. Gluten-free crusts and vegan cheese are increasingly common but often cost a few dollars extra, and cross-contact in a shared oven is standard unless the shop says otherwise.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 5 pmβ3 am. Note that it does not open on Monday. Brooklyn is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Brooklyn peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I made the pilgrimage to eat pizza from the oldest coal fired oven in NYC. We got there around 730pm on a Saturday night and parking wasnt that bad. We decided to order out because the restaurant was packed. We ordered a classic pie and the wait was 30 minutes. When we got the pie it was excellent. The buffalo mozzarella was chewy and tasty, sauce was tangy and the crust had that char that only coal fired ovens can give. The crust was thin, crispy on the outside but had some chew on the inside. Im not sure how many coal ovens are in NYC at this point, but definitely not many. I think this place is now a must visit for any pizza lover. I paid $32.00 for the pie. That is definitely on the expensive side but I think its mostly worth it. I can definitely see myself coming back here with family and friends to share the rare coal fired oven experience in NYC.

The good: pizza is really good. Sauce is a dot sweet. Had half regular and half pepperoni. Both 8.75 out of 10. The not so good: we ordered the "spaghetti o" pasta since I always ask what the best thing on menu. The server, who was lovely and great, highly recommend that. I don't know what happened in the kitchen but it was not good. My friend took one bite and said, you can have the rest. We didn't taste any of the ingredients that were supposedly in the dish that I even asked the server "what's supposed to be in this?" Maybe when they scooped it out of the big vat, it wasn't mixed correctly, and we only got the o's and sauce. Either way, get the pizza.

Incredible pizza, definitely one of the better spots I've had. We split a pizza, half cheese and half pepperoni/sausage. The cheese was the best version of it for sure, but the meat side was also delicious. We also got a nonna salad, which was lovely. Absolutely no complaints, the service was great and we were able to walk in and get a table. Would for sure recommend!

Lucky Charlie has really tasty pizza π The dough was soft and fresh, and everything was full of flavor. The ingredients tasted great and the service was friendly. The tiramisu deserves special attention β absolutely delicious! Definitely coming back again!

Absolutely phenomenal slice of za from Bushwickβs hottest new restaurant. Of course getting a table was rough, but my group went and got drinks elsewhere for an hour after putting our name in. Fluffy warm bread, crispy oil-filled pepperoni, stiff & creative cocktails, and a bustling atmosphere. Friendly server, vibey bathroom, and good music. Would highly recommend, but be ready to wait.
